Saving Settings

This page allows you to change some settings of the Webcast Player to enhance your experience.

The settings are saved by saving a 'cookie' onto your computer so that the website remembers your settings the next time you visit. For more information on cookies please see below. For information on exactly what each of the settings does please read the text next to each one.

What is a cookie?

A 'cookie' is a very small text file that is saved on your computer that websites can use to store information that can then be used when you return to that website again. They can only be viewed or modified by the website that created it and pose no security risks.

Player Settings Player Settings

This settings area allows you to set your preferences for viewing the webcasts.

Multiple versions of our webcast player are available for you to choose how you view the webcasts. Webcasts are normally started in the 'Compact' player which provides additional functionality but requires javascript and is slightly less accessible than the 'Text' player. Should you wish to change the version of the webcast player that is started when you launch a webcast please select that version here.
Please note that you can change from one version of the webcast player to another from within the webcast player.

Some webcasts are available in both Windows Media and Real Media formats. Webcasts will normally default to Windows Media format if both are available but should you prefer Real Media you can change the setting here.

To use index jump points for Windows Media webcasts you need ActiveX. This is installed by default on Windows systems and can be used by Internet Explorer. To use the index jump points in Firefox on Windows you need to install the Firefox ActiveX plugin and select the option here. Should you need it more information can be found in this thread in the Mozillazine Forum about embedded Windows Media in Firefox.

The webcast player should automatically start the webcast for you when it opens. Should you wish for the webcast player to not automatically start the webcast you can instruct it not to here. This will result in having to click the play button to start the webcast.
Please note that this only works for archived meetings. Live meetings will start when the webcast actually starts (though can be stopped once the webcast player is loaded). Please ensure that you open the webcast player a little while before the webcast is due to start to allow time to review the additional information.

The standard functioning of the webcast player will result in it opening in a window without the browser (i.e. Internet Explorer) menu bar, address bar and icons. Should you wish for it to open in a window with all these features still displayed then please select here.
